Today, I'm going to give you a few minutes to work on your FIT 4 questions, and then we will look at things you need to know for tomorrow's quiz on Sir Gawain.
1) Themes: Some themes for Sir Gawain and the Green Knight:
Paganism vs Christianity, The Idea of Honor, Good vs Evil, The idea of Faith.
2) Motifs: Colors, games, religion.
3) Characters: Gawain, The Green Knight, King Arthur, the Lady, Morgan Le Fay, Bertilak
4) Plot - outline the plot according to the six elements
5) Symbols - be able to discuss the meaning of the following: Gawain's Shield, the Green Girdle, the hunting scenes in relation to the bedroom scenes.
6) Compare Sir Gawain and the Green Knight to Beowulf (either by theme, character, or symbol)
7) Discuss why Troy is mentioned in the beginning and end of the book?
8) Be able to answer any or all of the STUDY QUESTIONS.
